VALDOSTA, Ga. — A community coming together to give aid to those in need.

A family in Valdosta are spear heading an effort to send supplies to those impacted by Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas.

The Langdale family had a home destroyed in the Bahamas but the real story is the response from the community when called to action.

Hundreds of supplies have been donated to help give aid to those affected by Dorian.

The Langdale family has organized planes and even boats to deliver the donated items to relief efforts in the Bahamas. Those who donate say they’ve seen the damage and horrible images and the least they can do is donate.

"Valdosta is known for being a caring community and we've been through disasters and people have reached out to help us," said Mimi Wetherington, who donated supplies. "So I want to give back and if this is the way that I can give back than I am more than willing to do it and I'm just so glad to live in a community like this that cares."

Another plane will be leaving for the Bahamas Thursday morning.

The Langdale family says that they will continue this donation effort until there are no more supplies left.
