VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) — The Valdosta Board of Education announced Tuesday the 2020-2021 academic school year will begin September 8, keeping schools closed through Labor Day.

The Board voted to amend the 2020-2021 academic calendar during the July 14 regular meeting.

The late start-date removes the October fall break, however, the school year will still end on May 21, 2021.

Teachers will return on Thursday, July 30 and pre-planning will run through Friday, September 7.

The Board said grading periods will be updated on this version as soon as possible.
