JEFFERSON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — Troopers say two people are suffering from serious injuries after a vehicle crashed into a tree while trying to avoid a deer in Jefferson county.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, the accident occurred Sunday around 6:55 p.m. on Thompson Valley Road in Jefferson County.
FHP says the driver of a Toyota Camry was was traveling west on Thompson Valley Road when a deer came from the south shoulder into the roadway.
The driver then quickly made an evasive maneuver to avoid colliding with the deer.
Troopers say the driver lost control of the car and eventually collided with a tree on the side of the road.
The driver and a passenger were both transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital suffering from serious injuries.
The Florida Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and Jefferson Fire Rescue.
