TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Two people were arrested after authorities say they stole a vehicle, then hit a patrol car while trying to flee from deputies.

The Leon County Sheriff's Office S.P.I.D.E.R. Unit along with Tallahassee police located a stolen vehicle at a residence on Duffton Loop on Tuesday morning.

Authorities say the vehicle was reported stolen to the Tallahassee Police Department a few days ago.

Police say a key fob had been left in the vehicle and it was left unlocked.

During the investigation, deputies located 24-year-old Devin Jerger in the driver’s seat of the stolen Jeep Cherokee.

24-year-old Jewlicia Cotton was in the passenger seat.

When deputies attempted to make contact Jerger and Cotton, Jerger put the vehicle in drive, pulled forward, then put the vehicle in reverse and hit one of the patrol vehicles.

In addition to Jerger hitting the patrol vehicle, Cotton was found with crack cocaine in her possession.

Both were arrested and taken to the Leon County Detention Facility.

Cotton is being charged with possession of cocaine and trespassing. Jerger is being charged with grand theft auto.
