TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Tropical Storm Marco has made landfall near the Mouth of the Mississippi River.
With maximum winds of 40 mph, and moving west-northwest at 8 mph, the storm made landfall around 6 p.m. Monday.
Tropical Storm Laura isn't far behind, expected to make landfall later this week as a Category 2 storm.
A storm surge watch has been issued for a portion of the northwest Gulf Coast in parts of Texas and Louisiana.
Laura continues to move west-northwest at 20 mph and is over the far northwestern Caribbean Sea.
NOAA and Air Force Hurricane Hunters currently investigating Laura find heavy rains and flash flooding over western Cuba and the Cayman Islands.
Laura is forecast to move over the central and northwest Gulf of Mexico Tuesday night and Wednesday, and approach the northwest coast of the Gulf on Wednesday night.
