TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Troopers say a pedestrian is in critical condition after being hit by a vehicle Friday night near the intersection of Capital Circle SW and Shelfer Road.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident happened at about 8:05 p.m. on Friday.
FHP says a Toyota Tacoma was driving westbound on U.S Highway 319, while a pedestrian was standing in the inside lane making erratic movements.
The driver told FHP that by the time he was able to observe the pedestrian, he was unable to brake in time to avoid a collision.
As a result, the the driver ended up hitting the pedestrian.
Troopers say the impact caused the pedestrian to be thrown over left side of the vehicle, striking the front left headlight, left side mirror and driver side window before landing in the median.
FHP says the pedestrian was transported to Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare with critical injuries.
Authorities have chosen not to release the name of the pedestrian at this time.
The driver did not suffer any injuries during the crash.
