WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — Troopers say three people were injured in a crash that involved two Wakulla County Sheriff's Office patrol trucks.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, two WCSO patrol trucks were traveling south on Springhill Road at 9:50 p.m. on Tuesday.

Johnathon Owens, 27, of Crawfordville was driving the first patrol truck and William Spence, 32, of Crawfordville was driving the second patrol car.

While traveling, FHP says the second patrol was in front of the first one.

Troopers say suddenly Spence slowed down quickly to avoid hitting a deer that ran into the road.

FHP says Owens failed to notice that the Spence was slowing down, which caused patrol car one to rear end the second patrol car.

Both drivers and a passenger sustained minor injuries during the crash.

Troopers were assisted on scene by Wakulla Fire/EMS and the Wakulla County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities say the driver of the first patrol car is facing a charge for following too close.
