JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — Troopers say a woman is suffering from serious after being hit by a semi-truck during an accident in Jackson County.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the accident occurred on Monday around 6:10 a.m.

FHP says a Toyota Tacoma was heading westbound on State Road 2 at Collins Chapel Road.

A semi-truck was also traveling westbound on State Road 2 towing a trailer and traveling behind the Toyota.

The driver of the Toyota failed to notice the semi and began to make a U-Turn then traveled into the westbound lane in front of the truck.

Trooper say this caused the semi to crash into the Toyota.

The driver of the Toyota was identified as 35-year-old Diana Vazquez of Dothan, Alabama.

FHP says Vazquez was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the semi did not suffer any injuries.

The Florida Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, Jackson County Fire Rescue and Malone Volunteer Fire Department.

Authorities say Vazquez is facing charges for driving without a license, improper u-turn and no seat belt.
