TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Trial began Monday for a man accused of killing a Tallahassee teen in 2017.
25-year-old Gerald Daniel is accused of shooting and killing 19-year-old Antonio Randolph Jr.
Randolph Jr. was found in the early morning hours on October 10, 2017. His body was in the street near Glenda Drive and Pepper Drive.
During Monday's testimony, Tallahassee Police investigator Jerry Megna, who interviewed Daniel, says that Daniel admitted to shooting Randolph in the back of the head. Daniel also told investigators he was on drugs at the time of the murder.
Defense attorneys claim Daniel confessed to the murder because he didn’t want to snitch on anyone and didn’t want his girlfriend to get in trouble.
The states case will continue and deliberation is expected to start Tuesday afternoon.
Daniel's trial will continue Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m.
