Drivers will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in the Big Bend area as crews perform construction and maintenance activities.
Franklin County:
- U.S. 98 and State Road (S.R.) 300 over Apalachicola River Bridge– Motorist should expect single west then eastbound lane closures Monday, May 18 through Friday, May 22 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. while crews work to repair or replace overhead streetlights.

Jefferson County:
- State Road (S.R.) 20 Aucilla River Bridge Repairs – Motorist should expect lane closures on the outside eastbound lane Thursday, May 21 for concrete pouring operations.
- S.R. 57 (U.S. 19) FG&A Railroad Bridges Routine Maintenance - There will be intermittent lane closures from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday, May 18 to Thursday, May 21 for bridge maintenance.
Leon County:
- Blountstown Highway (S.R. 20) from Pensacola Street (S.R. 366) to Tennessee Street (S.R. 10 (U.S. 90)) Resurfacing– Lane closures are planned from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday for construction activities.
Wakulla County:
- U.S. 98 (Coastal Highway) from Surf Road to South of Tower Road Path Construction – Intermittent lane closures should be expected through the end of 2020 to accommodate construction activities.
- Sopchoppy Highway (U.S. 319) from North of Beasley Road to U.S. 98 (S.R. 30) – Intermittent lane closures are anticipated through the end of May 2020. Closures are expected Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Forest Highway 256 (Lawhon Mill Road) Bridge Replacement – Traffic has been diverted to a temporary bridge that will be utilized until the original bridge is repaired.
All planned construction activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather.
Motorists are reminded to pay attention to the speed limit when traveling through the construction area, to watch for construction equipment entering and leaving the roadway, and to use caution when driving through the work zone.
Speeding fines double when workers are present.
