TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — The Tallahassee Police Department is currently investigating a traffic crash that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.
TPD says the crash occurred in the 1900 block of North Monroe and officers were called to the scene at about 6:38 a.m. Tuesday.
Police say due to the significance of the crash, Traffic Homicide Investigators were called to the scene and assumed the investigation.
The pedestrian involved in the accident sadly succumbed to their injuries, according to investigators.
TPD is asking drivers to avoid the area of North Monroe Street between West Tharpe Street and North Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard for the next several hours as road closures include all northbound and southbound traffic at this location.
Traffic Homicide Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash, but did not speak with an officer on scene or anyone with information about the accident to please call (850) 891-4200 and ask to speak with the Traffic Homicide Unit.
Investigators say you may also remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at (850) 574-TIPS.
