TPD: Suspects robbed victim at gunpoint during arranged ride in Tallahassee

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.(WTXL) — Two men were arrested after police say they robbed a victim at gunpoint during a ride that was set up through GroupMe.

According the Tallahassee Police Department, officers responded to a robbery that happened in the 400 block of West Gaines Street shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Monday.

Police say the victim stated that he had set up a ride with a person through the GroupMe app.

The victim went on to explain that he had gotten rides from this individual in the past.

When the suspect arrived to pick up the victim, there was a second person in the back seat of the car.

Police say the victim got inside the car and the two suspects pulled out guns and demanded the victim’s cash and phone.

After the victim handed the items over, he got out of the car and the suspects drove away.

Approximately 30 minutes later, officers saw a car matching the description of the suspected vehicle in the area of Old Bainbridge Road and High Road.

Officers conducted a traffic stop and detained the suspects.

During the traffic stop, the suspects were identified as 25-year-old Rastacey Beam and 26-year-old Michael Davis.

Police also recovered one of the described guns that was used during the robbery.

Based on the evidence, Beam and Davis was arrested and transported to the Leon County Detention Facility

They are being charged with robbery with a firearm.
