TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — This year through donations and volunteerism, the Tallahassee Police Department is reinforcing its commitment to help those in need.

Some of this year's holiday outreach efforts include holiday cards for veterans from their communities, Silver Santa, where seniors receive items on their Christmas lists,
Bears with Care, where TPD delivers bears to the Boys and Girls Club of the Big Bend, and local housing communities.

But these are just a few ways TPD is serving its community.

"We've identified about 12 different ways that we wanted to help and give back to the communities," said Alicia Turner, the director of Marketing and Communications for TPD. "2020 has been an unprecedented year, but we wanted to make sure we're still touching all sectors of our community. But this year, we had to modify and adjust some of them because of COVID-19."

TPD kicked off the season with Shop With A Cop, pairing TPD holiday helpers with local children to shop for gifts for the kids and their families.
