TALLAHASSEE, Fla.(WTXL) — A man was arrested after police say he tried to attack a victim and use a hacksaw during an attempted vehicle burglary.

According to the Tallahassee Police Department, officers responded to the parking lot of 2920 Hospitality Road where the caller said they had heard an argument and possible gunshot early Tuesday morning.

When officers arrived on scene, they discovered the victim had been sleeping in his vehicle when he heard a noise outside.

The victim told police that he exited with his firearm and found a man lying under his vehicle with a hacksaw.

Police say the victim attempted to hold the suspect at gunpoint and call 911, but before he could, the suspect charged at him.

TPD says the suspect punched the victim in the face, and the victim defended himself by hitting the suspect with the gun.

In doing so, the gun accidentally went off.

The bullet did not strike anyone and the suspect ran away from the scene.

During the investigation, police apprehended the suspect identified as 56-year-old Randall McNealy.
