TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — With back to school right around the corner, the Tallahassee Police Department is looking to build their team of crossing guards.

The department wrote on Facebook asking people to consider applying for a position. There are currently eight positions TPD is looking to fill.

Each crossing guard will get paid $15 per hour. Police say that crossing guards play an essential role in the community when it comes to making sure children cross the roads safely.

"It's a very rewarding job for those who want a nice part-time job or to just get out of the house," said TPD Officer Damon Miller. "A lot of times the parents are very appreciative of it. It's a great way to give back and have an awesome time."

No experience is need to work as a crossing guard.
