TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — The Tallahassee Police Department says one adult male died following the shooting that occurred just after 4:30 p.m. on Monday in the 400 block of Putnam Drive.
According to the report, the police investigation found the deceased, 29-year-old Cody McKinney and another person were in a dispute when McKinney forcibly entered the person's apartment making threats.
Following consultation with the State Attorney’s Office, the investigation determined the shooter was acting in self-defense, under Florida’s Stand Your Ground Law.
This is still an open and active case pending further investigation. The other person's name is being withheld pursuant to Marsy’s Law.
