TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Police are investigating after they say an argument led to a shootout between two groups of men at an apartment complex on Mission Road.

According to the Tallahassee Police Department the shooting occurred Sunday around 1:49 a.m. at the Mission Grove apartment complex.

TPD says officers responded to the apartment complex after reports of several gunshots being heard in the area.

While on scene, officers discovered several bullets from a firearm had hit three vehicles and one apartment window.

Police say one vehicle was occupied by a juvenile and a woman was inside the apartment during the shooting.

Two of the vehicles struck by bullets were not occupied at the time of the shooting.

TPD says there was no report of any injuries during the incident.

Officers began an on-scene investigation which included speaking with any witnesses, locating and interviewing any victims, finding the items which were struck during the gunfire, and locating any spent bullet casings in the area.

TPD’s Forensic Unit also responded to process the scene for evidence.

The investigation revealed that there was a party at one of the apartments with numerous people in attendance.

Police say security at the apartment complex had shut down the party prior to the shooting.

During the investigation, officers found that two different groups of men who were at the party, had gotten into an argument with each other.

The argument escalated and led to several gunshots being exchanged between the groups, causing rounds to hit the vehicles and the apartment during the incident.

The suspects fled the area before officers arrived. TPD says many witnesses were uncooperative with officers during the initial investigation.

This case has been assigned to investigators with TPD's Violent Crimes Unit. Investigators are asking anyone with information about this case to please call them at 850- 891-4200 or Crime Stoppers at 850-574-TIPS.
