TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Tallahassee Police Department wants to help you save lives.

That's why they hosted a blood drive Thursday.

From 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., donors came out to give. One Blood says one donation has the potential to save up to three people.

You can also donate platelets, plasma, and double red cells. One out of every three people will need a blood transfusion at some point in their lives.

That's why it's so important to give.

"It's a very important thing that we all can do as citizens," said TPD Officer Damon Miller. "It doesn't take much but your time, just come out and give your blood and also find out what your blood type is in case you need blood in the future."

All donors Thursday got a free One Blood T-shirt and a wellness checkup.

That includes blood pressure, temperature, iron count, pulse, and cholesterol screening.
