TPD: Arrest made in homicide on Joe Louis Street

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.(WTXL) — Following a thorough investigation, the Tallahassee Police Department has made an arrest in the recent shooting that occurred on Joe Louis Street.

The investigation revealed the shooting on Sept. 20, which resulted in the death of an unarmed adult male, occurred after a verbal altercation.

Based on statements from multiple witnesses and evidence collected at the scene, investigators identified 21-year-old Ronald Brown Jr. as the suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

Brown turned himself in to investigators on Tuesday, Sept. 22, and was charged with homicide and shooting into a conveyance.

Tallahassee police are investigating a homicide that happened Sunday afternoon on Joe Louis Street.

According to the Tallahassee Police Department the homicide occurred around 1:45 p.m. on Sunday, in the parking lot of the Springfield Apartments, located at 1700 Joe Louis Street.

When officers arrived on scene they found a deceased man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

This is the second shooting to happen in this area since August.

Earlier this month a 19-year-old man was arrested for attempted murder after investigators say he opened fire on three people at the same apartment complex on Joe Louis Street back on August 28.

Tallahassee Police Investigators ask anyone who may have witnessed the incident, but did not speak with an officer on scene, or anyone with information about the shooting to please call 850-891-4200.
