TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Tallahassee Police Officers enjoyed a sweet treat and some time with the community at Wednesday's Cone With a Cop.

Officers came out to the Chick-Fil-A on North Monroe Street for a few hours to chat with residents. Kids who came out even got a free ice cream.

TPD says it's important to spend time with the community.

"Well this is just another event where the community can see us, where we are not busy with calls for service," said Eric Hansen, Community Relations Officer with TPD. "They have questions and we have command staff here, they can ask the officers, it's just another way to connect."

TPD will be back in the community Thursday night for Operation Safe Neighborhoods.

It promotes public safety by organizing community walks through some of Tallahassee's neighborhoods.
