LEON COUNTY, Fla. — A statewide race to benefit the Special Olympics made its way through the Capital City on Tuesday.
The 36th annual Law Enforcement Torch Run goes through every Florida county.
State attorney Jack Campbell carried the torch to the Old Capitol.
Governor Ron DeSantis and members of his Cabinet joined Special Olympics athletes and local law enforcement.
One athlete thanked them for their support and shared the values she found in the Special Olympics.
"Special Olympics inspires all of us to try harder, play better, be fit, eat healthy, have a good attitude, cheer on our friends, and meet new people," said Tammy Downey, Special Olympics Florida athlete.
The run will end on May 17 in Orlando at the opening ceremony of the Special Olympics Florida State Summer Games.
