MOULTRIE, Ga. (WTXL) — Police are investigating after a 2-year-old girl wandered away from home and drowned in an apartment complex pool over the weekend.
According to Deputy Coroner Kevin Wimberly, the 2-year-old girl lived at an apartment at Arbors on Fourth, which sits in the 1500 block of Fourth Avenue N.E.
He says the child wandered from home on Saturday and into the area of the complex's swimming pool where she fell into the pool and drowned.
When the child was found, she was pulled out of the pool and CPR was performed before she was transported by EMS to Colquitt Regional Medical Center. The child was unable to be resuscitated and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
GBI Crime Lab performed an autopsy Monday. Wimberly says that he is awaiting toxicology results to determine an official cause of death.
The Moultrie Police Department is investigating the case.
