TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Friday's rain did not stop anyone on Thursday night from having a good time.
Nearly 1,600 guests came out to Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare's 36th annual Golden Gala, themed "Gala in the Garden."
Each year, this black tie event raises money for different programs in the Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare system.
This year's proceeds are going to TMH's Music Therapy Program.
Music therapy helps patients of all ages reduce their pain and stress levels, and can even help stimulate development.
Patients aren't the only ones that benefit from the music therapy. Their families and loved ones are also put at ease.
"A lot of times family members have a hard time seeing their loved one in the hospital. Being able to provide something that the patient is comfortable with and enjoys, it means a lot to see their loved ones more comfortable, especially with children. They're so scared in the hospital. It's not a normal environment," said Brittany Rosado, Director of Medical Music Therapy at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare.
As for the Golden Gala, over the last 36 years, it has raised millions of dollars for Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare to better provide care to the community.
