TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare and the TMH Foundation will be hosting the 37th annual Golden Gala event, starring Grammy-nominated group, OneRepublic.

Golden Gala XXXVII is Tallahassee’s premier black-tie event and TMH’s largest annual event.

The Gala will take place on April 22 at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center and will feature performances from OneRepublic .

With three top-10 Billboard hits, the group is known for smashing singles such as “Apologize,” “Counting Stars” and “Stop and Stare.”

This event supports TMH’s mission of transforming care, advancing health and improving lives.

“For this year’s event, we are focusing awareness and using proceeds to help expand the services of the Walker Breast Center, which is an incredible asset to Tallahassee Memorial and our community,” said Nigel Allen, President of the TMH Foundation. “This facility offers a full array of diagnostic and support services for detection and treatment of breast cancer in our region.”

According to TMH, a Tallahassee wife, mother and civic volunteer, Sharon Ewing Walker was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1996.

After initial treatment, her cancer returned in 2002 and ultimately claimed her life in 2005. Sharon's family and friends established the Walker Breast Center in her memory to provide digital screening mammography and comprehensive breast health services to women of the Big Bend region.

“At Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare, we are committed to advancing the health of our community and transforming the care we provide,” explained Mark O’Bryant, President & CEO of Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare. “Golden Gala is an annual opportunity to connect our community with an important aspect of that care. We are proud to be bringing awareness and funds for the Walker Breast Center this year.”

TMH says the Walker Breast Center is the only breast program in the Big Bend region recognized as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology and accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers .

The center is designed to offer patients a warm, relaxing environment with private changing rooms, comfortable cloth robes and individual attention from their medical team.
