TMH Foundation and fundraising professionals celebrate Philanthropy Day

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — The Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare Foundation will be celebrating National Philanthropy Day with the Association of Fundraising Professionals Big Bend Chapter on Thursday.

Each year, Philanthropy Day pays tribute to the contributions philanthropists and those active in the charitable sector have made in Tallahassee, North Florida and beyond.

The TMH Foundation and the Big Bend Chapter of AFP will gather at the University Center Club from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. to honor individuals, groups and businesses in the Big Bend region for their outstanding work in philanthropy.

At this year’s National Philanthropy Day luncheon, the AFP will be presenting several awards for some of the remarkable philanthropists in the community.

Award recipients include Grace Dansby, Lifetime Achievement Award; Virginia Glass, Philanthropist of the Year; Colette Podgorski, Fundraiser of the Year; Florida State University (FSU) Dance Marathon, Community Group; Margaret Fowler, Youth in Philanthropy; and, BowStern, Media Partner of the Year.

Attendees will have the opportunity to listen to keynote speaker Kelly Otte, executive director at the PACE Center for Girls.

Kelly is also the founder the Oasis Center for Women & Girls and has served as the executive director of Refugee House.
