TALLAHASSEE, Fla.(WTXL) — Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare confirmed it's Child Care Center has closed due to "several" teachers testing positive for COVID-19.

TMH says all Child Care colleagues are being tested proactively and the Child Care Center will re-open as soon as it is considered safe to do so.

The hospital also stated that they will reopen when they have the appropriate staff-to-child ratio.

"We understand the tremendous challenge closing our childcare program may have for some of our colleagues," a TMH spokesperson said. "We are communicating with each family directly to maintain their confidentiality and to provide alternative childcare options."

There are 23 staff members and 74 children currently enrolled at the TMH Child Care Center.

TMH says it has guidelines in place that require all employees to wear a mask at all times and undergo a health screening before every shift to confirm they do not have any symptoms.

In addition, if an employee is experiencing symptoms, they are immediately directed to the remote colleague health process.

In response to the public health emergency our community faces, we have elected to close the TMH Child Care Center due to several of our teachers testing positive for COVID-19. All TMH Child Care colleagues are being tested proactively and the Child Care Center will re-open as soon as it is considered safe to do so and we have the appropriate staff-to-child ratio.

We understand the tremendous challenge closing our childcare program may have for some of our colleagues. We are communicating with each family directly to maintain their confidentiality and to provide alternative childcare options. This is an unprecedented time for our community, our nation and the world. The health of our colleagues and their family remain our top priority.

We have 23 staff members and 74 children currently enrolled at the TMH Child Care Center. TMH has guidelines in place that require colleagues to wear a mask at all times, undergo a health screening before every shift to confirm they do not have any symptoms, and if a colleague is experiencing symptoms, are immediately directed to our remote colleague health process.

As COVID-19 has become increasingly more prevalent in our community, we are unable to ascertain the exact location our staff members contracted the virus. The health of our colleagues and their family always remains our top priority.
