Tifton Police: Arrest made in fatal shooting of 15-year-old

TIFTON, Ga. (WTXL) — The Tifton Police Department say a 14-year-old has been arrested in the fatal shooting of 15-year-old Autumn Connell in Tifton Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Tifton Police Department, at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, officers responded to reports of gunshots fired in the 1000 block of Lee Avenue. When they arrived, the officers found a 15-year-old girl with gunshot wounds, later identified as Autumn Connell.

Connell was transported to Tift Regional Medical Center before being transferred to Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida, in critical condition, as stated in the report.

TPD said Connell succumbed to her injuries on Thursday, Nov. 12.

Tifton police say a 14-year0old was arrested and charged with felony murder in Connell's death. Due to the individual's age, the name is being withheld.

The joint investigation with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Tifton Police Department is ongoing.
