THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WTXL) — A Thomasville teacher is $10,000 richer after being recognized for going above and beyond during the coronavirus pandemic.

Jenny Holt of Jerger Elementary won the grand-prize in the Juicy Juice 100 Percent Thankful Teacher Contest.

Jerger Elementary School parent, Shelley Busby nominated Holt for the award after watching her tirelessly teach remote classes from a hospital room while caring for her own critically ill child.

"To be able to push through the way that she did and have the determination and still effectively do her job was just staggering to me knowing the condition that her child was in," said Busby.

Holt's daughter Amy was hospitalized in March and even had a procedure on Friday. She's back at home now with her awesome mom, who was the top choice of more than 1,400 contestants.
