THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WTXL) — The Thomasville Police Department is investigating after 19-year-old man who was home on leave from the military was found dead under the Madison Street bridge.
TPD says they responded to the area of North Madison Street around 4:45 a.m. Thursday for a shots fired call. When they arrived, they found 19-year-old Chance Kelly laying in the middle of the North Madison Street with gunshot wounds to his body.
They say Kelly is from Thomasville but was home on leave from the military for a funeral.
The victim's car, a dark-colored 2014 Honda Civic with a South Carolina tag number that reads RVD773, was missing but was found around 1:50 p.m. It is being processed by law enforcement.
Right now, investigators aren't releasing any additional details.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is also assisting in the investigation.
