THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WTXL) — Thomasville Police Department is is also working to make sure residents and locals have a safe Fourth of July and holiday weekend.
The city is hosting its annual July 4th Fireworks and Festivities celebration at Remington Park starting at 6:30 Thursday. Families can enjoy live music, food, and face painting, all before the 9:30 firework show.
Upon leaving the park, Thomasville Police will have several roads blocked off to help get everyone out as quickly and safely as possible.
"If you have to take a different route, a long way around this particular time, try to work with us as much as possible and we'll work with you as much as possible," said Major Wade Glover with the Thomasville Police Department. "We're trying to get the traffic flow outbound away from Remington Park."
Major Glover also said that the police department has a "zero tolerance" approach to the weekend in regards to drinking and driving, seat belts, and distracted driving.
