THOMAS COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL) — Thomas County Schools are preparing to re-open on August 3.
The district took to Facebook to update parents and students about what could happen next as they prepare to reopen for the fall semester.
They also posted guidelines to be followed to assure that students, staff and faculty are kept safe as they transition back into the classroom.
Thomas County is also giving parents three options about their child's returns to school via survey.
- Physically attend school
- Remotely attend school, which will allow children to be enrolled into a virtual classroom taught by a Thomas County teacher. This option will not be the same as the virtual experience that took place this spring.
- Virtual program, which is a year-long virtual program through Thomas County virtual program, or through Georgia Virtual School.
"We are ramping up our virtual program," said Lisa Williams, the superintendent of Thomas Thomas County Schools. "Our teachers are working on units to put in place for our students who are electing to do virtual program. We'll definitely make sure that their needs are met in every way."
Parents have until July 3 to pick their option. Their survey is available by clicking here.
