THOMAS COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL) — The Thomas County Food Bank needs help getting ready for fall and winter temperatures.

While their primary goal is to provide food assistance to nearly hundreds of families across the county, they also give away about 500 children's coats every year and about 650 adult coats every year. But this year, they're short on supplies.

"We had a small disaster with our children's coats," said Janice Anderson, the president of the Thomas County Food Bank and Outreach Center. "We had them in storage at an off-site location and there was a roof leak which damaged all of our children's coats except the ones we have here. So we are now in a desperate battle to replenish children's coats that we lost."

They're most in need of boys and girls jackets in sizes 12 through 18.

They're also accepting blankets and monetary donations. You can drop off either at their center on North Broad Street.
