TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Students in the Tallahassee Community College Eagles RISE Summer Academy heard from the university's president Friday.
TCC President Jim Murdaugh talked to the 40 students in the 2019 class at a luncheon Friday morning.
TCC Eagles RISE is a six-week program that helps kids transition into college.
The goal is to connect first-generation, minority, and low-income students with resources on TCC's campus.
"I feel like I would have a greater opportunity to be more successful, not that the incoming freshmen won't be successful, but I feel like I'm already prepared to deal with college," said one of the students.
The program consists of two clustered classes, a math inversion, and student engagement seminars.
