BAINBRIDGE, Fla. — The new Taurus USA manufacturing facility has been under construction for about a year now, and we've been following it every step of the way.
The walls are up and the roof is on the new Taurus USA facility in Bainbridge, however, there is still a lot of work going on on the inside.
The national headquarters offices are still being framed, but the manufacturing portion of the site is further along, with the engineering offices, cafeteria, and indoor ranges already blocked out.
The sooner the manufacturing plant is ready, the sooner Taurus USA employees can get in to train and work.
In an effort to hire regionally, there will be two job fairs next week at the Kirbo Center in Bainbridge.
"They need over 250 more jobs to hire, so there's a lot of jobs. Some of them will be able to get started right away. A lot of them require some serious training," said Rick McCaskill, Executive Director of the Development Authority of Bainbridge/Decatur County. "Georgia Quick Start has fully bought into this Project. They'll come in and whatever Taurus needs done training wise, they'll do."
The hope is that some manufacturing can take place by August this year, though the entire building is not expected to be ready until late this fall.
The Taurus USA job fair will be held on May 7 and 8 between 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. at the Kirbo Center in Bainbridge.
