TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Talquin Electric Cooperative is gearing up for Hurricane Dorian.

The company will have technicians working around the clock once conditions prove safe to assess the damage.

The area Talquin covers is mainly rural areas and the company assures those who may be without power for a while, someone is working on fixing the issue.

Maicel Green, with Media and External Affairs, confirms employees have been preparing for the hurricane conditions since early this year.

"We want our community to also be aware that we have prepared our buildings and our vehicles and our equipment and other things that are necessary," said Green. "We actually start preparing for hurricane season in May and even before that but in May we actually do storm prep for all the employees involved in helping with that restoration process."

The Co-op will also be sending aide to those who are directly impacted by the storm

Talquin has four ways to report electrical outages, their 1-800 number, online at Talquinelectric.com or by texting #OUTAGE to 85700.
