WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — There's warning in effect in Wakulla County for Talquin Electric members from Shadeville to Shell Point Beach.
A precautionary boil water notice is in effect for parts of the county. Officials say a well pump failure caused the water mains to lose pressure.
This impacts the following areas:
- Spring Creek Hwy south of Shadeville Road, including the Wakulla Gardens
- The Park, the Rustling Pines Subdivisions and south to the coast including Spring Creek
- Shell Point and Live Oak Island
During the notice, your water needs to be boiled for one minute and let it cool before you use it for anything. It would be best to use bottled water in the mean time.
In addition, the system may experience discolored tap water due to shifting sediments in the water main.
Washing clothes with discolored water may tint or stain garments so make sure to run water from an outside spigot or bathtub faucet to assure that water has been flushed. If sediment is present in the water, let it settle before drinking.
About 1,400 people are impacted by this warning.
