TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — A Juneteenth celebration on Friday in Tallahassee is teaming local activist group The Movement 850 with businesses.
The event begins at noon at San Luis Mission Park. It will have food, music, games and several black-owned businesses.
Jalen Blocker, the group's activities director says the day will be one of reflection during a time of social unrest.
"Were definitely taking some time to celebrate the liberation of our people," said Blocker. "So that's what we are looking at tomorrow. A whole day of events from 12-noon all the way until 10 p.m. and, then, also taking some time to continue to honor the life and legacy of Toyin."
A peaceful walk is scheduled to remember the slain activist.
Educational information on voting will also be available to attendees.
