TALLAHASSEE, Fla (WTXL) — Many gathered far and wide to celebrate the 107th birthday of Ms. Mattie Mobley.
In honor of her birthday, Centre Pointe Health and Rehabilitation set up a birthday drive-by, to give friends and family an opportunity to celebrate her happy 107th.
Activity Director, Whitney Bolden said it was very important to make the day special.
"This year, I was like we got to go big because she's expecting something big," said Bolden. "Everyone inside the building is wearing red for her birthday because it's her favorite color. It's a celebration all over. Everyone here knows who she is. She makes it a point for everyone to know who she is. For her to live this long, and through this pandemic, especially for her to see 107 is just a blessing."
Fun fact, in 1914, when Mobley was born, the life expectancy for women in the U.S. was 56.8 years. The life expectancy for men at the time was 52 years, according to the University of California, Berkeley.
