TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — A 25-year-old woman has been charged with sexual assault after police discovered she was involved in a sexual relationship with a child victim.

According to a probable cause report, Tallahassee Police were called to Dixie Drive on May 17 in reference to an unrelated possible aggravated assault.

When they arrived, documents say officers noticed that a woman, identified as 25-year-old Karin Wilcox, and a juvenile boy were packing their things together.

"Based on the way the bedroom was situated, it was obvious Karin and [the victim] were residing together," investigators wrote in the probable cause report. "The room only had one bed and there were no obvious places in the room where someone could have been sleeping other than the bed."

That's when officers began investigating Wilcox for a possible sexual assault. The victim's age was not specified in the probable cause report but was noted to be under the age of 18.

When officers interviewed the victim, he said that he'd been dating Wilcox for the past year and had moved into the apartment together to stay with a friend.

Both the victim and Wilcox admitted to having a sexual relationship, according to probable cause documents. Based on the evidence, Wilcox was charged with sexual assault and arrested on Wednesday.

During a first appearance on Thursday, a judge ordered that Wilcox wear a GPS monitor and keep away from the victim. She has since been released from jail on her own recognizance.
