TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — The Tallahassee Police Department is on the scene of a shooting on California Street.

Police responded to the scene around 1 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

They say they received a call from a nearby neighbor that an injured man had flagged them down about being shot and said a second person had been shot as well.

That victim was given medical attention at the scene and transported to a local hospital. Arriving officers then found the deceased victim in the 800 block of California Street.

Police say they are still working to identify a suspect but couldn't confirm the circumstances surrounding how the shooting happened or what the motive was.

When ABC 27 reporters arrived on scene, police were staged at both Arkansas and California streets, which sit parallel to each other.

One of the witnesses who called 911 told ABC 27 that a victim in the shooting ran to a neighbor's home on Arkansas Street, pleading for help and saying that he had been shot in the head.

The witness said that the victim was bleeding but was lucid when EMTs arrived.

"He said he got shot in the head but he was actually fluent and talking to us and letting us know and telling us exactly what happened and where he ran from," the witness told ABC 27.

TPD has not released any other information about the suspect or victims.

ABC 27 has reporters at the scene gathering more information. This story will be updated as we learn more.
