Tallahassee Police raising awareness for Big Bend Heart Walk

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Tallahassee's Interim Police Chief spent the day behind bars, but not for any crime.

Chief Stephen Outlaw was locked in jail Monday, as part of the Jail and Bail Fundraiser at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare.

Police officers, those from other law enforcement agencies, and anyone wiling to donate, could get him out of jail if they helped him post bail.

All donations go to benefit the American Heart Association's Big Bend Heart Walk.

"It's a fantastic event and we just encourage everybody to donate and to be involved. You know, we all have family members in our family who suffer from heart disease and so I just appeal to everybody to have some empathy and for the research that goes into that."

Chief Outlaw did post bail at noon on Monday. We are working to find out how much that was.

Meanwhile, you can still donate to the cause by clicking here.
