Tallahassee Police make arrest in deadly New Year's Day stabbing

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — The Tallahassee Police Department has arrested a suspect in connection to a fatal stabbing on New Years Day.

On Jan. 1, just after 2:30 p.m., the TPD responded to the 1500 block of Lake Avenue for an injured person.

When police arrived on scene, they found one victim, a 60-year-old man, dead with apparent stab wounds.

After an investigation by TPD’s Violent Crimes Unit, a person of interest was identified in the case and arrested for murder. Police said the suspect, who was identified by court records as 48-year-old Michael Lagrane, and the victim knew each other.

"TPD is committed to bringing justice for victims and closure for impacted families. If you see something, say something," TPD wrote in a release shared Monday.

The Leon County Sheriff's office is also investigating a deadly stabbing that occurred on New Year's Eve in the 9400 block of Old St. Augustine Rd.

The incidents have not been connected by authorities at this time.
