TPD investigates fatal Easter Sunday shooting on Columbia Drive

The Tallahassee Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting on Columbia Drive.

Police say just before 7:30 a.m. Sunday morning, officers arrived at an apartment complex off Columbia Drive near West Tennessee Street and Ocala Road.

The victim was found dead in the parking lot.

Residents on Columbia Drive say they heard at least two rounds of gunshots once around 11 on Saturday night then again around 5 on Easter Morning.

Tallahassee police confirmed the victim was shot. Neighbors told WTXL they are shocked by the violence. Some say that this is usually a quiet neighborhood

TPD's public information officer says the shootings in the city are getting out of hand.

"If you have just one shooting for a year that's one too many. The shootings need to stop and we ask everyone please put the guns down and try to talk it out. Try some other means, but just think about how many lives you are effecting, especially here on Easter Sunday," said Officer Damon Miller.

Officer Miller says TPD was able to solve all homicide cases in 2018 and plan on solving this one as well.


The Tallahassee Police Department is currently investigating a shooting homicide on Columbia Drive.

According to TPD, officers arrived on the scene of 214 Columbia Drive at 7:26 a.m. to find a person dead lying in the complex.

Police say the victim had gunshot wounds.

Residents in the area say they heard gunshots at 11p.m. Saturday night, as well as, 5a.m. Sunday morning.

This case has been assigned to TPD'S Violent Crimes Unit.
