TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare has opened a "dedicated COVID-19 unit" to treat coronavirus positive patients.
According to Stephanie Derzypolski, the vice president and chief communications officer at TMH, the unit opened Friday in a former adult intensive care unit located in the main hospital.
Only COVID-19 positive adult patients will be cared for in this unit.
Officials say the unit is negative airflow and features 20 beds that can transition between medical and intensive care based on the needs of each patient.
If needed, they also have access to eight additional beds for the expansion of the unit into a nearby vacant patient care area.
"At Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare, we remain focused on keeping our patients, colleagues and community safe throughout this COVID-19 pandemic," Derzypolski wrote in a statement.
