TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — A 19-year-old Tallahassee man has been hospitalized in serious condition after being hit by an unmarked patrol car in Jackson County.
The Florida Highway Patrol says the crash happened Thursday morning around 3:20 a.m. on S.R. 10 near Gause Drive.
They say a Jackson County deputy was driving an unmarked patrol car west in the inside lane of S.R. 10. Troopers say a 19-year-old Tallahassee man, who was wearing dark clothes, was improperly standing in the inside lane as well.
The deputy failed to see the man in the road and hit him, propelling the man into the median. At first, troopers say the deputy kept driving but soon realized he hit something, so he returned to the scene.
FHP says the 19-yer-old has been hospitalized in serious condition at Flowers Hospital.
They say charges are pending further investigation.
