TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — A Tallahassee man was arrested for attempted murder after deputies say he randomly attacked a victim outside a gas station on West Tennessee Street, stabbing the victim in the chest.

Anthony Guglielmo, 52, was arrested on Monday and charged with attempted murder.

According to an arrest report, the Leon County Sheriff's office responded to the Murphy Gas Station in the 3800 block of West Tennessee Street on Monday for a stabbing.

When they arrived, the suspect, Guglielmo, had already left the area. They then spoke to the gas station clerk who said that she found the victim lying on the ground outside the store after being stabbed.

The clerk said she spoke to the victim who said that he had been stabbed by Guglielmo. As he was walking away, the clerk said he turned back and said, "Yeah I [expletive] stabbed him."

The clerk took a picture of him as he was walking away and showed it to deputies. The clerk also showed deputies surveillance video of the incident that showed Guglielmo lunging at the victim several times, leaning back from the victim after he was done, and wiping off an object in his hand on his pant leg.

When deputies spoke to the victim at the hospital, he told investigators that Guglielmo approached him while he was sitting outside the gas station. The victim said Guglielmo confronted him about his missing cellphone and told the victim he was "going to die today."

That's when the victim said Guglielmo took out a folding pocket knife and tried to stab the victim in the neck. The victim was able to move and avoid the initial attack, but was stabbed in the chest when Guglielmo lunged at him again.

Thanks to the picture the clerk took, documents say deputies were able to find Guglielmo lying in a wooded area in front of the closed down Payless Shoes store, which sits across from the gas station.

After being taken into custody and brought to the Leon County Sheriff's office, deputies interviewed Guglielmo. He told them that he was "robbed" the day before and was missing his cellphone.

Documents say Guglielmo was at the gas station when he saw his cell phone outside the store being charged. He told investigators that he took his cell pone and spoke to the store clerk before he left, crossed the street, lied down and drank a beer until deputies took him into custody.

He denied stabbing anyone and wouldn't claim ownership of the pocket knife deputies found on him when they searched him.

"[Guglielmo] stated he was mad someone had stolen his cell phone and other items but didn't remember what happened after getting his phone back," the arrest report reads. "[Guglielmo] stated he couldn't remember who stole his cell phone."

Based on the evidence, Guglielmo was charged with attempted murder. He is being held in jail without bond.
