TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — A Tallahassee man is behind bars for attempted arson after police say he tried to set fire to the Mellow Mushroom restaurant on West Pensacola Street in broad daylight.
The Tallahassee Police Departments says officers responded to the Mellow Mushroom restaurant on West Pensacola Street around noon on Sunday for a man who was trying to set the patio on fire while the business was open and occupied by patrons.
Arriving officers interviewed witnesses and evidence was collected on scene to be processed by TPD’s Forensics Unit. The case was then assigned to investigators with Violent Crimes Unit who began a thorough investigation into the attempted arson.
Through an investigation, officers identified 59-year-old Victor Crawford as a suspect in the case and probable cause for his arrest was approved by the State Attorney’s Office. Crawford was arrested and transported to the Leon County Detention Facility for processing on Wednesday.
