TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — A 20-year-old man has bonded out of jail after admitting to dating and having sex with a child he met on Instagram.
According to court documents, Tallahassee Police responded to a home in regards to a possible burglary on Monday at 2:17 a.m.
Police say the caller stated that a stranger had broken into his apartment. When officers arrived on scene, they found the suspect, identified as 20-year-old Tyrec Baker, standing in one of the bedrooms and detained him.
While on scene, police spoke with the victim who stated that she had sexual intercourse with Baker multiple times and had intercourse that evening.
Through an investigation, documents say police determined that the victim invited Baker over and snuck him into the home while everyone else was sleeping.
During the investigation, police also spoke with Baker who stated that he and the victim met on Instagram and had been dating for one week.
Baker admitted to having sexual intercourse with the victim and "described the act as consensual." He also said that he believed that the victim was 16 years old at the time.
Based on the evidence, Baker was arrested and transported to the Leon County Detention Facility.
He is being charged with lewd or lascivious battery for engaging in sexual activity with a person less than 16 years of age.
Baker has since bonded out of jail. In addition to his charges, Baker is to have no unsupervised contact with minors and is required to wear a GPS monitor.
