TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - — City leaders have a new idea to keep Tallahassee businesses afloat during the coronavirus outbreak.

Mayor John Dailey is calling on the Blueprint Intergovernmental Agency Board to discuss a relief package for places suffering financially since the outbreak. Dailey said he knows there is federal aide but he believes local governments should be stepping up, too.

"There is a role for local governments to play and I strongly believe that we need to start that conversation immediately," said Dailey. "Of what is our role, what does our package look like, and how does it complement what the state and the federal government is doing as well...as well as what we need."

Dailey said they hope to meet virtually and discuss the topic next week.
