TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — If you love nature and the outdoors, then this is for you.

The City of Tallahassee and Leon County want you to join in on the City Nature Challenge.

170 cities across the country are all battling to see which place has the most natural splendor.

The challenge is simple. Download the I-Naturalist app and whenever you're out and about, snap a pic of any plants, flowers, or animals that you come across.

The challenge itself starts Friday and goes until April 29.

The main objective is to identify as many different species of plants and animals as possible around Leon County.

"A lot of times we find that we didn't know a specific animal or plant was in a certain area," said Thomas Eason with Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation. "By people documenting that and getting them in a database, it helps us get a better understanding of our fish and wildlife and our plants out there."

More events will be hosted throughout the weekend.
